Authorities are looking for the driver they say caused a head-on collision in Gainesville early Sunday morning that injured three people.

The Hall County Sheriff’s Office said the wreck happened at around 2:45 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 7 on Harmony Church Road between Thousand Oaks Drive and Dover Road, east of Gainesville.

“PedroJesus Pulido, 19, of Gainesville, was eastbound on Harmony Church Road when a westbound driver crossed the centerline in a 2015 GMC Sierra,” a report from the sheriff’s office said. “Pulido attempted to avoid the crash by swerving; however, the Sierra driver swerved back into the right lane, and the two pickup trucks collided.”

Pulido suffered what investigators called visible injuries, along with one of his passengers. Another passenger in Pulido’s vehicle, Joseph Robert Montez, age 16 of Gainesville, was seriously hurt. All three were taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for treatment.

The sheriff’s office said the driver of the Sierra fled the scene on foot, with investigators unable to find him after an initial search of the area. Officials said charges of hit-and-run could likely be pending against that driver if identified and located.

The crash remains under investigation. The wreck also left Harmony Church Road shut down for more than two hours in the early part of Sunday morning.
