It’s Cocktail Party week. And yes, it is will always be the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party; the only other acceptable name is the Georgia-Florida Game.
As we prepare to watch on tv, head to Jacksonville, visit the great drinking hole that is Brogen’s, prepare for the debaucherous St. Simons tradition of Frat Beach, or however else we will be enjoying the game, let’s take a gander around the SEC.
A Change in Baton Rouge
I’m sure most have already heard, but LSU has let go of head coach Brian Kelly. In addition, they also let go of offensive coordinator Joe Sloan. Frank Wilson will be the Tigers’ interim coach, with his first game being next Saturday against Alabama
A Change at Auburn?
Auburn quarterback Ashton Daniels stepped in for the struggling Jackson Arnold and led the Tigers to their first SEC win of the season last weekend against Arkansas. Head coach Hugh Freeze has said it will be an open competition this week at practice between Daniels and Arnold, but I’m betting we see Daniels get the nod under center this weekend against Kentucky.
Arch Status Uncertain
Texas quarterback Arch Manning is in the concussion protocol ahead of the Longhorns’ game against Vanderbilt. Here’s hoping he clears the protocol and is fully healthy soon.
Spooky Season Uniforms
Tennessee will be rocking their “Dark Mode” (translation: black) uniform against Oklahoma this weekend. Black and Orange just makes me think of Halloween, which is appropriate since it’s Friday. Make sure you stock up on your candy and remind the kiddos that the Vols have lost nine straight against Georgia.
