Friendly reminder – if you haven’t hated Auburn today, make sure you get your hate in now.

***hating intensifies***

Now that we’ve got that out of the way, let’s check-in with our brethren in the SEC to see who is making headlines.

Mateer Back?

Oklahoma quarterback John Mateer is pushing to play in the Red River Rivalry this weekend against Texas after undergoing hand surgery just under three weeks ago. Mateer was the September Heisman winner (unofficially), and this would be a major jolt for the Sooners if they can get him back.

Stoops is Staying

After rumors circulated that he had spoken with school officials about a buyout, Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops vehemently denied these claims. Though this season has been a down one thus far, Stoops has been excellent at Kentucky and is handsomely paid for his work. This would be a mistake by Kentucky if they acquiesced to any buyout ask.

Kiffin on Kiffin Crime

When asked about potentially playing for his father in college, Oxford High School sophomore quarterback Knox Kiffin emphatically said “no thanks”, as he wants to do his own thing away from Oxford. Under the tutelage of Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin, Knox has racked up several D1 offers, including from SMU and Georgia State.

Chill on the Arch Stuff

A hilarious article from the New York Times came out posing the question “is Arch Manning college football’s first bust?” First of all, absolutely wild that anyone would think there haven’t been busts before. Secondly, (most) everyone needs to chill with the Arch Manning takes. He himself tried to downplay the Heisman and NFL Draft top pick dialogue over the summer, and while he hasn’t played great, he is still a quarterback with seven career starts. How about we just let him play and, maybe, allow him to potentially settle in to something in between the best player in college football and an outright bust? Anyways, horns down.
