All 14 members of Georgia’s U.S. House delegation as well as both Senators have agreed to pass House Resolution (H.R.) 4405, or the Epstein Files Transparency Act, on Tuesday.

That is not much of a surprise given that the bill passed the House 427-1 with five representatives not voting.

Shortly after the vote, Georgia’s 9th Congressional District Representative Andrew Clyde supported a motion to censure non-voting U.S. Virgin Islands Delegate Stacey Plaskett (D) for “inappropriate coordination” with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

A Democrat-led motion to send the matter to the House Ethics Committee failed 213-214. Republicans are calling for Plaskett to be removed from the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.

“After four years of silence on this matter, not a peep during the entire Biden Administration … House Democrats are now demanding transparency and accountability surrounding Jeffrey Epstein and his associates,” Clyde said on the House floor. “While their fake outrage is clearly just another disgusting attempt to smear President Trump, House Republicans are taking this matter seriously.”

Clyde said emails obtained by a congressional subpoena brought to light Plaskett asking Epstein input on how to best question President Donald Trump’s former attorney Michael Cohen in 2019.

Senators Raphael Warnock (D-GA) and Jon Ossoff (D-GA) urged Senate leadership to immediately vote on the bill Tuesday afternoon.

“We call on you to immediately bring the Epstein Files Transparency Act (H.R. 4405) to a vote on the Senate floor,” Ossoff, Warnock, and their colleagues wrote to Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) on Tuesday. “The victims of Jeffrey Epstein – and the American people – deserve answers, accountability and the truth.”

Georgia’s 10th Congressional District Representative Mike Collins also sounded off on X, posting a screenshot of a Trump Truth Social Post. The post from Trump said: “I don’t care when the Senate passes the House Bill … I just don’t want Republicans to take their eyes off all of the Victories that we’ve had…” In response, Collins said: “President Trump is 100 percent correct. Let’s keep our eye on the ball and keep WINNING for Georgia and America.”

Warnock also posted, saying “The House and Senate have spoken. Release the files.”

The latest news on the bill that would force the Justice Department to release its files on Epstein is that the Senate agreed late Tuesday to pass the bill as soon as it gets to their chamber.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer called to pass the bill by unanimous consent, and no Senator objected. However, the Senate adjourned at around 7 p.m. meaning that the bill making it to the president’s desk will not happen until they are back in session on Wednesday.

The 14 members of Georgia’s representatives, who all voted “aye,” include:

  • District 1: Buddy Carter (R)
  • District 2: Sanford Bishop (D)
  • District 3: Brian Jack (R)
  • District 4: Hank Johnson (D)
  • District 5: Nikema Williams (D)
  • District 6: Lucy McBath (D)
  • District 7: Rich McCormick (R)
  • District 8: Austin Scott (R)
  • District 9: Clyde (R)
  • District 10: Collins (R)
  • District 11: Barry Loudermilk (R)
  • District 12: Rick W. Allen (R)
  • District 13: David Scott (D)
  • District 14: Marjorie Taylor Greene (R)

This comes after a small, bipartisan group of House lawmakers introduced a petition earlier this year to get the bill to a vote. It first appeared improbable, with Trump dismissing it as a “hoax.”

In a reversal, Trump is now saying he will sign the bill when it gets to his desk.
