BALDWIN, Ga. — Multiple law enforcement agencies remained active in the Baldwin area Wednesday night after a vehicle pursuit that began in Banks County ended in Habersham County with several suspects fleeing on foot.

According to the Baldwin Police Department and the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office, Banks County deputies pursued a vehicle into Habersham County, where four individuals reportedly jumped out and ran.

Authorities initially reported that two suspects had been taken into custody and two remained at large. However, in an update posted around 7:50 p.m., the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office said one person was in custody and three others remained at large, noting that information in multi-agency incidents can change as situations develop.

Officials said they believe the remaining individuals may have left the area.

The active search area included Duncan Bridge Road from the industrial park area to Ga. 365, including the Mallard Pond subdivision and surrounding residential neighborhoods.

Residents were urged to remain aware of their surroundings, secure their homes and vehicles, and avoid the area if possible while officers conducted the search. Motorists also were encouraged to seek alternate routes because of the heavy law enforcement presence.

Authorities have not released descriptions of the individuals who remain at large.

The Baldwin Police Department said questions about the pursuit and those involved should be directed to the Banks County Sheriff’s Office.

No additional details about what prompted the pursuit were immediately available Wednesday night. This is a developing story. Stay with Now Georgia for further information.
