HCSO TUESDAY MORNING UPDATE:

Hall County authorities have released more information on an investigation that began Sunday and are asking the public for help. They are trying to find the motorcyclist who fled an accident scene in North Hall.

NEW SHERIFF’S OFFICE NARRATIVE:

“On Sunday (just after noon) a Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) patrol deputy responded to a report of a traffic hazard on Mount Vernon Road near Thompson Bridge Road. When the deputy arrived, he discovered a motorcycle on its side in the middle of the roadway. There was no operator for the bike at the scene. The motorcycle had no tag.

As the deputy was investigating, the driver of a GMC pickup truck arrived at the scene and explained that he had been involved in a sideswipe accident with the motorcycle. The truck driver reported he had exited the Kroger parking lot, making a left turn to travel northbound on Mount Vernon Road when the motorcycle, also traveling northbound, sideswiped the rear passenger corner of the truck.

The truck driver and witnesses reported the motorcycle driver ran from the accident scene. Initially, the truck driver drove away from the scene but returned a few minutes later. He was not injured and his vehicle sustained minimal damage.

The deputy has followed several leads on the driver of the motorcycle, but he has been unable to identify the driver at this time. Any witnesses who may have information on the incident may call the Hall County Dispatch non-emergency line at 770-536-8812, extension 8.”

EARLIER STORY. POSTED MONDAY MORNING:

A motorcyclist remained at large at mid-morning Monday following an accident on Mt. Vernon Road Sunday about noon.

The Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) reports that a car was sideswiped by a motorcycle at the exit from the Kroger shopping center.

“The driver of the motorcycle laid his bike in the road and ran from the scene,” a spokeswoman said. “There was no tag on the motorcycle, so the identity of the driver is unknown.”

And there was no description of the biker at last check.
