*Citizens who oppose a large Coweta County data center project are taking their concerns to court. A group filed a lawsuit this week to challenge the zoning of 800 acres, which will be used as a home for the $17 billion project. The suit argues that the zoning and land use plan never contemplated such a substantial development.
*A Georgia city is suddenly without a police department. WSB-TV reports all personnel with the Cohutta Police Department have been fired. Controversy surrounding the city’s clerk and payroll complaints led up to the terminations. The Whitfield County sheriff’s office will take over police responsibilities in the city.
*Officers are continuing to investigate a deadly wreck at a DeKalb County Kroger. A car reportedly sped into the parking lot before slamming into a parked car, which then crashed into the store on Wesley Chapel Road yesterday. The driver inside the parked car was killed.
*Crews are finishing clean-up following a middle Georgia train derailment. The driver of a tractor trailer told investigators his rig overturned when he tried braking at a crossing in Juliette early Wednesday. The truck collided with the train, which forced half-a-dozen cars to derail. The truck driver has been charged with drug possession and failure to have a valid driver’s license.
