A Gainesville man remained in the Hall County Jail Tuesday morning following a weekend domestic disturbance at a residence on Pine Valley Road that ended with him facing animal cruelty and child cruelty charges.
HCSO NARRATIVE:
“A Hall County sheriff’s deputy arrived at the residence around 9:30 Saturday night. The officer met with the homeowner who explained that she and a relative, Mickey O’Neil Morris, 22, had become involved in a verbal disagreement over Morris’ two puppies. Morris had been living in an RV on the woman’s property.
The investigation determined she had asked Morris not to bring the dogs inside her home, but Morris allowed them inside anyway. During the argument, the homeowner informed Morris he was no longer allowed to stay on her property. At that point, Morris picked up one of the puppies around the neck, holding the animal in mid-air with both hands, strangling it. He put both dogs in his truck and left.
A second deputy located Morris inside his vehicle in a parking lot at a business on Limestone Parkway. Morris was arrested on a charge of animal cruelty. The dogs were released to Hall County Animal Control.
Morris also was charged with second-degree child cruelty because a child was inside the residence and heard the verbal argument that occurred.
Morris is being held without bond on the child cruelty charge.”
