*Crews are battling a massive wildfire in southeast Georgia. Some residents living nearby were urged to pack essential items in case of evacuations after flames broke out Saturday night. WALB-TV reports the fire had burned through 2,500 acres, but there’s no word on containment.
*A new scam in Georgia targets ride-share users. Tricksters pick up people at Atlanta events pretending to be Uber or Lyft and tell then to scan the QR code in the back seat. Some people report paying up to $70 for a two-minute ride. Experts call the QR code scam “quishing” as in phishing. Uber and Lyft say only pay directly through their apps.
*Hundreds gathered in the coastal town of Darien this weekend for the blessing of the shrimp fleet. The annual event started with a parade Saturday followed by Sunday’s blessing of the fleet. The Georgia Department of Natural Resources says Georgia shrimpers harvest three million pounds of shrimp yearly with a dockside value up to $10 million and a total economic impact of $230 million.
