TOCCOA, Ga. — A wanted fugitive was taken into custody following a brief foot pursuit through a residential neighborhood, according to the Toccoa Police Department.
Officers were attempting to locate Vernon Chad McIntyre, who had multiple outstanding warrants, when they made contact with him in the area of Stephens Circle. McIntyre fled on foot, prompting a coordinated response by law enforcement to contain the area and pursue him.
Police established a perimeter and tracked McIntyre through the neighborhood, from Stephens Drive toward Stancil Drive. After a short chase, officers apprehended him on Stancil Drive without further incident.
McIntyre was wanted on several warrants out of Franklin County, along with an active felony probation warrant. Additional charges are pending as the investigation continues.
“Our officers acted quickly and professionally to safely take this individual into custody,” Toccoa Police Chief Bruce Carlisle said. “Let this be clear — if you are wanted and attempt to flee, we will pursue you and bring you into custody.”
The Toccoa Police Department credited the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office for assisting in the incident and thanked nearby residents for their cooperation during the search.
