*Battery recycler Ascend Elements, which has a major plant in Covington, has filed for bankruptcy, becoming the latest firm involved in the electric vehicle (EV) and clean energy to show signs of economic struggles since the beginning of President Trump’s second term. The company filed for Chapter 11 protection Thursday citing $103.5 million in long-term debt. (AJC)

*Meanwhile, Rivian’s Social Circle EV plant is taking shape with vertical construction expected to begin before the end of the year. The project, which has been focused on groundwork and infrastructure, is now shifting gears towards the next phase. This development marks a significant turning point for the long-anticipated plant. Despite not being close to completion, the project is showing signs of forward momentum.
