CLARKESVILLE, Ga. — The Clarkesville City Council will take up a range of items Monday night, including a proposed mobile generator purchase aimed at preventing wastewater system failures during emergencies.
The council is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. April 13 at City Hall, where leaders will vote on several resolutions, a new city branding guide and the generator purchase discussed during a recent work session.
The generator proposal stems from concerns raised by city staff about the vulnerability of the city’s wastewater system during power outages. As previously reported by Now Georgia, city officials said at least two lift stations currently lack backup power, creating a risk of service disruptions or overflows during outages.
During the April work session last week, Public Works Director Joe Deputy told council members a mobile generator would allow the city to restore power to those lift stations in emergencies while also providing flexibility for use at other city facilities. Council members agreed at that time to move forward with gathering quotes, including options with extended warranties and necessary compatibility equipment.
The item now returns for a formal vote Monday night as part of the council’s new business agenda.
In addition to the generator, council members are expected to consider approval of a new Clarkesville branding guide. The document outlines the city’s visual identity, including logo usage, color palette and messaging designed to promote Clarkesville’s image as a destination community.
The council will also vote on two resolutions, including one recognizing Georgia Cities Week, scheduled for April 20–25, and another designating May as Veterans and First Responders Month.
Other items on the agenda include approval of the 2026 work session schedule and routine consent items such as meeting minutes.
The meeting will open with an invocation led by Pastor Ross Wheeler of Clarkesville First Methodist Church, followed by committee reports from city departments.
Council members may also enter executive session to discuss potential property acquisition or negotiations before adjourning.
