GUNNAR AKINS – UNION COUNTY
Gunnar Akins shoved last week for Union County. The Panthers’ ace was 2-0 with a perfect 0.00 ERA, striking out 15 batters in the process. This is his second POW award.
RYAN REED – JEFFERSON
Ryan Reed’s solid senior season continues. The Jefferson Dragons’ outfielder hit .636 across three games, notching seven hits. That includes a homer, four RBI, five runs, and six stolen bases while securing his first POW award.
REID GILES – RABUN COUNTY
Reid Giles gets it done on the diamond as well as the football field. The senior center fielder and pitcher for Rabun County hit .625 (five hits in three games). He had two RBI and five runs scored, registering a .769 OBP. On the mound, he took an extremely tough-luck loss, sporting a 1.16 ERA in six innings of work and throwing just 64 pitches. This is his eighth career POW award.
