‘Too bold,’ or ‘I wish my living room were cool enough to pull that off,’ are common patterned-sofa knee-jerks. The assumption, of course, being that whatever print you love now – geometric, floral, otherwise – will probably age like milk.
If our couch reporting has proven anything, it’s the opposite. Patterned upholstery has cycled through the Victorian era and Rococo, resurfaced in the grandma-coded charm of the 1950s, and, more recently, landed on our top sofa trends lists for 2024, 2025, and 2026.
