The Hebron Christian Lions won their 15th straight game of the season defeating Stephens County 5-3 Friday night in Dacula.
The game was scoreless until the bottom of the 4th when Dallas Rice and Griffin Treadwell hit back-to-back homers to give the Lions a 3-0 lead.
Stephens County cut the lead to one run in the top of the 6th when Christian Hewitt scored on an error, and Will Faulk’s RBI single that scored Isiah Patterson.
Hebron Christian added two insurance runs in the bottom of the inning to make the score 5-2. The Indians threatened in the top of the 7th inning when Hewitt scored on Branson Stowe’s 3rd hit of the game but left two runners on to end the game.
The Indians outhit the Lions 9-8 but left nine runners on base to just one for the Lions.
Landon Wilson pitched 5 1/3 innings for the Lions to get the win. Anthony Ponzio went 1 2/3 innings for the save.
Noah Holbrooks pitched well for the Indians allowing 3 runs on 5 hits while striking out 5 and walking 1 in five innings to take the tough loss.
Hebron Christian improves to 9-0 in region-8 AA play and 18-1 overall.
Stephens County falls to 3-3 in region play and 10-8 overall.
The Indians will return home on Monday to face Hart County. First pitch is scheduled for 5:55 P.M. with airtime set for 5:45 P.M. on WNEG.
