
*A proposed downtown redevelopment plan is scheduled to be considered by the Flowery Branch City Council when it meets Thursday night. According to documents on file with the city, the proposal includes a parking garage, retail space, and apartments.
*A state representative from the local area is among those in the legislature pushing for paper ballots for Georgia elections. Rep. Victor Anderson (R-Cornelia) says he’s requesting $150 million for the 2027 Fiscal Year budget to fund switching to the new method of voting. The AJC reports state lawmakers voted Tuesday to abandon the idea of making the change in time for this year’s midterm elections which will be held in November.
*Due to a temporary water service interruption, the restrooms at Butler Park will be closed Saturday, March 21 and Sunday, March 22.
