Last week, I talked about the split between firearms importer SDS and Turkish manufacturer Tisas. While SDS will no longer warranty any Tisas firearms, it’s not all bad news. A week later, Tisas officially announced the opening of its new facility in Georgia.
Tisas Arms Establishes U.S. Division in Georgia
Tisas Arms has officially launched its new U.S. division, establishing operations in Buford, Georgia, after two decades of operating through importer partnerships.
Going forward, the company will ship firearms directly from its manufacturing facility in Trabzon, Turkey, to its new Georgia-based organization, streamlining distribution through its established U.S. dealer network. The move is designed to strengthen logistics, reduce supply chain disruptions, and better serve American consumers.
Corporate Changes
To help stand up the new division, CEO Erdal Kaya announced the appointment of longtime Tisas veteran Tim Mulverhill as Vice President of Operations. Kaya said Mulverhill brings years of experience developing the Tisas brand, along with two decades of industry knowledge. Mulverhill thanked Kaya and the board for the opportunity, adding that he looks forward to bringing the full range of Tisas products to the U.S. market and continuing to grow the brand.
Kaya also emphasized the company is “working around the clock” to establish customer-facing teams to support Tisas owners—regardless of where they purchased their firearm—and reaffirmed the company’s commitment to its lifetime warranty, promising “great products supported by great service.”
Zooming Out
It’s common for large international manufacturers to eventually establish US operations. Tisas is just the latest to do so. Zastava is a recent example, which separated from Century Arms to form its own American facility. With Tisas taking this route, it should speed up production and streamline logistics. Ultimately, making it better for everyone involved.
