The FCC has signed off on the $34 million merger of Charter Communications (Spectrum) and Cox Communications. Charter is the primary cable TV supplier in Hall County.
According to an Internet search, the company has about 160,000 customers in the county or about 78 percent of the population.
The new company will have about 40 million subscribers and use the Cox name and be marketed using the brand name “Spectrum.”
The merger still needs the okay of the Justice Department.
