*A Special Use Permit for property in the White County Industrial Park has been granted by the White County Board of Commissioners for the operation of a transfer station/recycling center, WRWH reports. Jacob Wiley told the board that the facility will primarily handle construction and demolition material, but he would like to offer recycling of plastic and cardboard, with glass to be added in the future. Wiley noted that in the future, he would like to work out an agreement with the county to haul their recycling to Gainesville for processing.
*The father of a 9-month-old is in custody after deputies in Barrow County say he abducted the child from the boy’s home. Investigators say Cesar Martinez took his son about 10:00 Thursday morning and took him to DeKalb County. Authorities in DeKalb were notified and assisted in locating the child. Martinez is charged with simple battery and interference with custody.
