A metro Atlanta man wanted in Maryland was arrested in a shopping center parking lot Tuesday by Oakwood Police.
OAKWOOD POLICE NARRATIVE:
“…Officers were conducting patrol on Mundy Mill Road when we observed a black sedan displaying a novelty license plate reading “PR1V4T3.” The tag returned no record through the State of Georgia. Due to the fictitious tag, we followed the vehicle into the Walmart parking lot.
Upon activation of our emergency lights, the driver immediately exited his vehicle and walked toward the rear of the car. We issued verbal commands for the driver to return to his vehicle and remain seated.
The suspect provided false identification paperwork and stated that he was only traveling. Officers were able not able to verify that the suspect had a valid driver’s license and did find that the vehicle had suspended registration through Maryland.
The suspect resisted arrest by holding onto the steering wheel, when officers attempted to remove him from the vehicle.
Officers later positively identified the suspect through an AFIS database check and found that he had an active arrest warrant through Annapolis, Maryland. The Failure to Appear warrant was for a previous Aggravated Assault charge.
