Arcade Adventure RECCO Belt Review: Can Comfort & Safety Coexist?

For this Arcade Adventure RECCO Belt Review, I’ve worn the Arcade Adventure RECCO Belt on many outdoor adventures and trips to town for the last few months. It’s designed for comfort, but the RECCO reflectors ensure you’re detectable to rescuers using RECCO detectors while hiking, skiing, hunting, or on any other adventure.

Specs & Core Features

  • Width: 1.5”
  • Material: Webbing is made with 85% post-consumer recycled REPREVE polyester, 15% rubber
  • Buckle type and Material: Contoured low-profile A2 Buckle System made of high-density plastic
  • Adjustability: 30”- 40”
  • Special Features: RECCO Reflectors

The 1.5” webbing is made of 85% post-consumer recycled REPREVE polyester and 15% rubber. This gives waste a second life by repurposing post-consumer plastic bottles. It’s adjustable from 30” to 40”, and the RECCO Reflectors are sewn into the belt. The A2 Buckle System is made of high-density plastic, making this belt very travel-friendly and metal-free.

Fit & Comfort

I often forget that I’m wearing the Arcade Adventure RECCO Belt, it’s that comfortable. I’ve never felt it pinch or have any awkward pressure points while wearing it in the car or while working outside. I’ve also never had to worry about it shifting; it stays in place and holds my pants up. What more can I ask for from a belt? It’s crazy flexible, but that means it’s not sturdy enough for any kind of EDC gear. The stretchy REPREVE polyester webbing sacrifices rigidity for comfort.

Buckle Design & Usability

The A2 Buckle System is amazing. It’s easy to get through my belt loops and buckle or unbuckle. Yet, it doesn’t come unbuckled until I press both sides of the buckle. It’s not bulky, which also aids in comfort. One of the best things about it is that it’s metal-free, which means going through airport security is less complicated. I’m truly a big fan of the buckle because its low-profile, simple design works every single time I need it to.

Adjustability & Fit Options

The Arcade Adventure RECCO Belt is simple to adjust to the EXACT size you need. No more punching holes in your belts, this stretchy belt allows for micro-adjustments so you can get the perfect fit. Speaking of fit, I’ve found the 30”-40” standard size range to be pretty accurate. I’m about a 32”-33” waist, depending on my last meal, and I still have several inches of strap left over. I love that the belt keeper elastic loop keeps the excess belt secured in place without hindering the belt’s adjustability. I’ve never had the belt loosen throughout the day, whether I’m sitting, on an adventure, or working around the house.

Durability & Materials

After six months of wearing this belt, I still don’t see any fraying on the webbing or the buckle. The buckle still latches and unlatches properly. Best of all, since the RECCO Reflectors don’t require batteries, they’re still detectable by RECCO detectors that search and rescue use. In the event of an emergency, during one of my adventures, the belt will still be detectable, helping search and rescue find me faster.

Versatility & Everyday Use

While I would wear this belt every day, it’s not a good EDC belt because it’s not stiff enough to support a holstered pistol or spare mags, so it’s relegated to the times when I don’t carry my CCW. I’m getting one for my dad when he goes skiing, since this was the primary design for the belt, and it’s also great for traveling. However, it is not the most versatile belt I’ve ever used.

7/10

Value & Competition

At $60, it might not be the cheapest belt on the market, but it’s fairly priced. This is one of the few belts on the market that helps search and rescue find you faster in an emergency, and that alone is worth the $60 in my book.

Overall Rating: Arcade Adventure RECCO Belt

I’ve been beyond impressed with the functionality and comfort of the Arcade Adventure RECCO Belt, especially considering the price. I’ll be sure my dad and I are wearing one while skiing, hiking, and camping (when carrying a pistol isn’t needed). I see hikers and skiers getting the most benefit out of this belt because of the RECCO Reflectors. But it’s also great for travelers wanting a super comfy belt. However, if you’re looking for an EDC belt, this isn’t the belt you need. It’s too flimsy and won’t support a holstered pistol or any other heavy object.
