CLEVELAND, Ga. – White County officials have closed the Yonah Preserve Trails while crews assess damage caused by Winter Storm Fern.

County officials said the trails sustained significant impacts from the ice storm, including widespread downed trees across the preserve and throughout the region. The closure will remain in effect until an assessment is completed and a plan is developed to safely clear and restore the trail system.

Officials are asking the public to be patient as cleanup planning moves forward and emphasized that trail conditions are currently unsafe.

Updates on the assessment, cleanup timeline, and any volunteer opportunities will be shared on social media as they become available.

Visitors are urged not to attempt to access the trails until officials give the all-clear.
