As Northeast Georgia braces for another round of winter weather, Now Georgia is asking readers to share their stories, memories, and survival tips from past snow and ice storms.

As part of our ongoing Snow Weekend 2026 coverage, we’re collecting firsthand accounts from across the region—what you remember, what caught you off guard, and how you made it through when conditions were at their worst. Selected submissions will be featured in an upcoming article.
For some, the benchmark storm was the Blizzard of ’93. For others, it was the ice and snow of 2014, the storms of 1940 or 1977, or a more recent outage that tested patience and preparedness. We’re especially interested in the small, practical adaptations that made a difference.
Did you:
- Improvise gloves or extra layers?
- Use candles, kerosene lamps, or fireplaces during power outages?
- Bring animals indoors or rig temporary shelters?
- Melt snow for household use?
- Stay warm by camping out in one room?
Those kinds of details matter—especially to neighbors facing similar conditions this weekend.

Photos are also welcome, whether they show snowy backyards, ice-covered roads, children bundled up for the cold, or the creative setups that helped your household get through.
Stories can be short or long. Tips can be simple or hard-earned. All submissions help build a shared record of how North Georgia weathers winter.

Readers can share stories and photos on our social media platforms. Your experience could be the advice someone else needs right now.
