Senator Drew Echols (R-Lula) has been appointed by Lt. Governor Burt Jones and the Senate Committee on Assignments to serve as the new Chairman of the Senate Economic Development and Tourism Committee. To that end, Echols says he is stepping down from his role as Gov. Brian Kemp’s Senate Floor Leader.
“I want to thank Governor Kemp for the trust he placed in me to carry his administration’s legislative priorities in the Senate,” said Echols. “It has been one of the greatest honors of my public service to help advance his vision for a stronger, freer, and more prosperous Georgia. I also want to thank Lt. Governor Burt Jones for his confidence in me to lead this committee as we continue building on that record of success.”
Over the past year, Echols served as Chairman of the Senate Study Committee on Making Georgia the #1 Place for Tourism, which was charged with evaluating how the state can strengthen opportunities for tourism growth across all regions.
