The Flowery Branch Police Department (FBPD), one of the dozen or so agencies involved in the investigation of that title fraud case, says a large amount of marijuana was seized during the probe. And the Hall County tax commissioner says her office is the one that blew the whistle on the operation.

FBPD FACEBOOK POST:

“During the course of the investigation, investigators learned that more than forty vehicle registrations were fraudulently transferred to Maria D. Escamilla, a resident of Flowery Branch. In September 2025, officers obtained and executed a search warrant at Escamilla’s residence, which uncovered evidence supporting the registration fraud investigation, as well as more than seven pounds of marijuana. The investigation determined that the marijuana belonged to one of Escamilla’s family members, Jesus M. Adame, 26.

The post goes on to say that Adame was charged with Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute and Possession of Drug-Related Objects.

Meanwhile, Hall County Tax Commissioner Darla Eden says in a Facebook post “Our office first identified the irregularities that led to a major investigation into a North Georgia vehicle title and registration fraud scheme…We remain committed to protecting (residents) and ensure the integrity of all Motor Vehicle services.”
