Girls Basketball – Jefferson Lady Dragons
Jefferson has had a really good season for what many supposed would be a rebuilding with new coach Austin Thompson taking over a team with no returning starters. The Lady Dragons have now won three straight, and last week beat East Forsyth and Monroe Area, the latter of which is a key region win. Overall, Jefferson is 12-4 while being now 1-0 in region play.
Boys Basketball – Commerce Tigers
Three more straight wins in a row for Commerce. The newly-minted #2-ranked team in the state (after a HUGE win over #1 Rabun County), the Tigers are roaring. The latest? A win over #1-ranked Putnam County (that’s two wins over #1s in the last three games). Overall, Commerce is 14-3 and 4-0 in region play.
Wrestling – Dawson County Tigers
The Dawson County wrestling team won the Area/Region Duals Tournament ahead of this coming weekend’s state tournament. The Tigers earn some major hardware.
