King Charles Dethrones Family Member to Become Hardest-Working Royal of 2025 Despite His Ongoing Cancer Treatment

King Charles is ending the year with the crowning achievement of being the “hardest-working member” of the royal family, according to a new report.

On Dec. 22, The Mirror reported that the King, 77, conducted the most royal engagements of 2025 by count of official outings recorded in The Court Circular up until Dec. 18.

The Court Circular is the official record of past royal engagements for working members of the British royal family, and the outlet reported that the sovereign clocked a whopping 535 engagements of the 2,458 listed.

The tally meant that the King dethroned his sister, the driven Princess Anne, who was considered the hardest-working royal family member for the last several years, per informal counts of The Court Circular.

King Charles crowned the list even as his treatment for cancer continued. Buckingham Palace announced that the King was diagnosed with cancer and began treatment in February 2024.

It’s understood that he has been receiving treatment since the palace announced his undisclosed diagnosis, and the monarch announced the “good news” on Dec. 12 that his treatment will be “reduced” in the New Year.

According to the Mirror‘s analysis, the Princess Royal, 75, took second place on the list by carrying out 478 engagements in 2025. Their younger brother, Prince Edward, was third with 313 outings, and his wife, Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, was ranked fourth with 235 duties.

In fifth place was Queen Camilla at 228 engagements, and she was followed by Prince Richard, the Duke of Gloucester, in sixth, with 212 engagements. The Duke of Gloucester, 81, is a first cousin of Queen Elizabeth and a working royal like his wife, Birgitte, the Duchess of Gloucester.

Next up was Prince William, who was ranked seventh at a count of 202 royal engagements, and in eighth place was the Duchess of Gloucester, 79, at 113 events. Prince Edward, the Duke of Kent, was listed as ninth on the list with 77 outings — an impressive accomplishment at age 90.

Rounding out the contingent was Kate Middleton, who was ranked tenth at a count of 68 engagements.

In January, the Princess of Wales, 43, announced with “relief” that she was “in remission” after announcing in March 2024 that she was undergoing treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer.

Princess Kate reduced her duties in 2024 after sharing that news to focus on her health and resumed a more regular schedule of royal work in 2025.
