Wednesday Dawg Bites Is Dishing Out The Accolades

Let’s cut to the chase, shall we?

The Broyles Award is given annually to the top assistant coach in college football.

Of this year’s five finalists, only one is an offensive coordinator.

That offensive coordinator…well…

The Mike Bobo criticism has almost become an amusing sideshow at this point. Odds of convincing anyone on either side from changing their mind is about as likely as convincing a vegan to suddenly chow down on a Pig Special at Fincher’s BBQ.

OC’s are a lot like lineup and pitching bullpen management in baseball. There are so many easily observable things in a game, and when the smallest thing goes south, it falls on the OC’s shoulders.

At the same time, when things go well, the OC gets the credit. And with the way that Georgia is cooking with peanut oil on offense, it’s good to see Bobo getting his just recognition.

It’s all-SEC season. To zero surprise, Georgia’s 11 on the coach selections leads the conference.

When it became known that Drew Bobo could not play against Alabama’s physical front, there was cause for concern. How would a new face playing extensive snaps in Malachi Toliver hold up? It turned out to be a worry over nothing.

There’s one metric that measures how well a center plays – when they are not mentioned during a broadcast due to no center-QB snap exchanges. Toliver did that. Whether Bobo can return or not in the Sugar Bowl, one reason for worry a week ago no longer exists.

It’s only December and in non-conference play, but the Lady Bulldogs are unbeaten on the basketball court.

One of many things that would be amazing to have Lewis Grizzard with us for these days – knowing he’d be writing about the confluence of Georgia football and passenger rail, especially given he did a cover of this classic.

Go Dawgs!
