A Gainesville man has been charged with burglary after going to the same home twice in one month according to authorities.

Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) deputies responded to an initial call for a burglary off of Dawsonville Highway on Manor Ridge on Nov. 24.

48-year-old Jimmy William Smith was identified as the suspect in that call. Initial details revealed Smith allegedly burglarized the home on Nov. 21, and then returned again the next day on Nov. 22.

The owner was away at the time. Smith allegedly took wiring, copper pipe, lighting fixtures, and tools causing thousands of dollars of damage to the home’s interior.

Investigators also confiscated less than one gram of methamphetamine Smith had left in the home during one of the burglaries.

Smith was charged with two counts of first-degree burglary, second-degree criminal damage to property, and possession of meth. All of those are felonies.

He was taken into Dawson County custody on Dec. 4 before being transported to Hall County custody. He remains in jail without bond.
