A suspect has been arrested after an alleged robbery attempt at a bank in Gainesville Thursday afternoon.
Gainesville Police Captain Kevin Holbrook confirmed Thursday that the incident happened at 3:30 p.m. at the Wells Fargo branch at the intersection of Browns Bridge Road and Pearl Nix Parkway on the west side of the city.
“Police received a 911 call stating that there was a possible robbery in progress at the bank,” Holbrook said. “Within a minute later, police arrived and they were able to take a male subject into custody…He was taken into custody without incident.”
No injuries were reported in the incident and the name of the suspect has not been released as the case remains under investigation by both Gainesville Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI.)
“The bank is closed at this time while investigators and agents work through this situation,” Holbrook said. “We do believe this (suspect) is the only individual involved in this robbery.”
