Seven local entrepreneurs announced Wednesday plans to establish a new bank in Hall County in 2026.
The group reportedly filed an application for a state charter, non-member bank with the Georgia Department of Banking Finance. The individuals also applied for deposit insurance with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. The proposed name for the bank is Private Bank & Trust. Only five banks have chartered in Georgia since 2008.
The group’s members, who all have prior banking, financial services or bank board experience include:
- Brian Daniel , Proposed Chairman
- Greg Barrett, Proposed President and CEO
- William Bagwell, Jr.
- Ashton M. Lewis
- Brian Rochester
- Wendell Starke
- Robert “Bo” Weber
The proposed bank would be located in Gainesville at 424 Green Street NE. The group plans to also file a bank holding application with the Federal Reserve Bank. The release said the group anticipates regulatory approval sometime in the first quarter of 2026.
