Suspect in alleged I-985 road rage shooting incident arrested

The suspect in an alleged road rage shooting incident on Interstate 985 has been arrested.

According to the Flowery Branch Police Department (FBPD), the suspect has been identified as 23-year-old Ivan Hernandez of Norcross.

Officer located Hernandez at around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the area of the Sterling on the Lake subdivision. He was taken into custody without incident.

It’s also been revealed that Hernandez was in a BMW sedan at the time, threw an object at the victim’s vehicle while traveling, and then fired the shot into the victim’s passenger-side door.

Before his arrest, he was last seen exiting onto Spout Springs Road.

Hernandez was booked into the Hall County Detention Center on charges of aggravated assault, terroristic threats and acts, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and criminal damage to property.

Hernandez is being held without bond and the investigation remains active and ongoing.

Police in Flowery Branch are investigating a Tuesday road rage shooting incident on I-985 northbound at Exit 12.

The department said an initial investigation indicates that the suspect became angry with the victim’s driving and displayed a firearm. The suspect then discharged multiple rounds of the firearm towards the victim’s vehicle. The suspect reportedly struck the victim’s car once.

No one was injured in the shooting. The name of the suspect has not been released.

The case remains an active and ongoing investigation. The Flowery Branch Police Department asked anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have information relevant to the investigation to contact the Flowery Branch Police Department.
