Welcome to Tuesday, Bulldog fans! And not just any ol’ Tuesday, but the Tuesday of Clean Old Fashioned Hate. There is no love lost for little brother from North Avenue, nor do they care much for the flagship University in the State of Georgia. The game is on Black Friday yet I’ve already seen several TV sporting events promoted with “Paint it Black” by the Rolling Stones. That is low hanging fruit (this from a habitual low fruit picker). But as the name implies, let’s keep this clean. We don’t need a repeat of George Pickens. Like the man said, there’s just no place for a street fight. Ladies & Gentlemen… the Rolling Stones!!!
There was bad news over the weekend, as relayed by Macondawg yesterday. as reserve OL and RS Freshman Nyler Daniels was arrested Sunday on several charges. There is little tolerance from the staff and school in matters like these, and based on the charges I don’t think we see Daniels back. The update here is that Coach Smart only said that “he will no longer be with us”.
Speaking of the Head ‘Dawg’s weekly presser:
- Asked how Chauncey Bowens looks after his injury against Texas: “looks good”. Literally, that’s it.
- Asked about Earnest Green and Drew Bobo after they sat out Saturday: “both are great and completely available.” Okay, sounds definitive.
- Asked about CJ Allen, he grew verbose and spoke to how hard CJ is working to get back, but “he will be available when he can.” Oooooo – so close to a real answer.
- If you like the terms “toughness” and “physicality”, then you’ll quite enjoy the show. Just don’t create a drinking game around it.
Just in case you didn’t know, not only is the Tech game played Friday, it is broadcast by ABC at 3:30 pm. While I’m not crazy about the day, I do appreciate the timeslot. Waiting until dark is tough sometimes. And watching the big night contest of Texas/Texas A&M will hopefully be buoyed by another ringing of the Chapel Bell. However, for the pleasure of having a mid-afternoon game, you will have to suffer through Joe Tessitore and -gack- Jesse Palmer.
We’re still a football school, but Friday night in Atlanta there should be some chants of “Just like basketball, clap/clap/clap” because both the men’s and women’s roundball teams defeated the respective teams from Tech in this young season. The Lady Bulldogs destroyed Tech Sunday, and are still unbeaten in their current campaign. You already know the men’s team lost their first contest in a close one to Clemson, but are still on the cusp of “others receiving votes” in some polls. Okay, enough jinxing. Back to football.
I don’t follow high school recruiting that closely, but there is a lot of noise surrounding current UGA commit and #1 QB Jared Curtis. Vanderbilt might be creating that noise, yet it seems to have gained a bit of traction. Curtis is a Nashville native, and with Diego Pavia going on to co-host a podcast next season with his step-father, there is a great chance to play under center immediately for the Commodores. And with Gunner Stockton’s plans not known, and Ryan Puglisi firmly entrenched as the heir apparent, Curtis might indeed stay home.
Even with that disappointing possibility, Coach Smart hit the Twitter machine with a “Go Dawgs!” which always means landing a big prospect. Sure enough, 2026 linebacker Elijah Littlejohn commited to the G Sunday. Maybe a little light, but I think he’s got the potential to fit the Smart/Schumann prototypical backer ala CJ Allen and Roquan Smith.
Tuesday night is the 4th reveal of the CFP committee rankings. Don’t expect much to change. Probably the only things to watch are if Vandy moves up a slot or two, and what happens between Miami and Notre Dame. I expect Georgia to remain at #4, and I believe the only movement we see this week or next will be if Texas pulls out a miracle vs. the Yell Squad or whatever they call themselves. That’s the only game of consequence before the conference championships.
You’ve ignored them all year while you’ve been living in their heads for decades. There’s a winning streak on the line, and a short week to loathe, despise, detest, resent, and a million other ways to hate. Gotta get on it now, because you can bet they have. Otherwise enjoy your day, and as always…
GO ‘DAWGS!!!
