Basketball: Buford, Lumpkin Co. girls roll to wins; EHall boys lose

JEFFERSON, Ga. — The Buford girls opened their season with a dominating 72-21 win over Eagles Landing Christian on Saturday in the Jackson EMC Tournament at The Arena. 

Lydia Ledford led the Lady Wolves with 24 points.

Buford next play Westside, S.C on Monday at 3 p.m. in the tournament.

LUMPKIN COUNTY GIRLS 68,

TOWNS COUNTY 24

Lumpkin County jumped out to a huge first quarter lead and then cruised to a win at home. Lumpkin County (4-0) led 19-4 and then outscored Towns County 21-11 in the second quarter for a 40-15 lead.

Towns County (0-5) was held scoreless in the third quarter as Lumpkin County took a 63-15 lead into the fourth quarter.

Maddox Henderson led Lumpkin County with 14 points as nine different players scored. Reagan Richardson added 11 points and Maddie Lee and Alayna Lindley each scored 9 points for Lumpkin.

Ava Thompson led Towns County with 10 points. Chloe Sutton added 8 points for Towns County.

ARCHER BOYS 73,

EAST HALL 47 

The shorthanded Vikings fell to 0-2 on the season after a loss in the Peachstate Explosion Tournament at Cedar Shoals High School.

Chasen Jones paced East Hall with 20 points.
