Northeast Georgia Health System (NGHS) recently held their annual Marketplace event, raising over $320,000.
It’s the largest amount raised at the event and will go toward supporting Safe Kids Northeast Georgia
Safe Kids’ stated mission is to reduce the number of accidental injuries to children through public awareness, advocacy, and safety equipment.
“Safe Kids’ vision is for the children of Hall, Lumpkin and Barrow County to have a safe place to grow and play, free from accidental injuries,” trauma program director for Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) Jessica Mantooth said. “The important work we are doing in the community could not be possible without funds raised through Marketplace. What might seem just like a fun event to kick off the holiday season is really a way to make our community safer.”
Willis Investment Counsel presented the event at Lanier Technical College’s Ramsey Conference Center the weekend of Nov. 7-9.
The event featured family-friendly activities, a local art exposition, a food court, and more than 60 merchants in attendance.
Volunteer tri-chairs Angie Kennedy, Annie Stanley and Daphaney Teacher, along with their committees, oversaw planning for the event over the last two years.

“Angie, Annie and Daphaney brought tremendous passion and leadership to every detail of this year’s event,” president of the NGHS Auxiliary Natalie Challen said. “It’s wonderful to see how they put their own spin on the event while continuing the legacy of all the tri-chairs who came before them over the last 30 years.”
A live auction was also held Nov. 6 to start the three-day event, with items ranging from a Taylor Swift-autographed guitar to a two-day quail hunt in Savannah.
“We are so grateful to those who generously donated these unique packages for our guests to bid on and enjoy,” Teaver said. “We are glad to be able to provide such elevated and thoughtfully curated experiences we know people aren’t able to find anywhere else.”
