The Hall County Director of Planning and Zoning has submitted her resignation, effective immediately.
A press release from Hall County Government late Wednesday morning indicated that Beth Garmon submitted her resignation that morning. Hall County Administrator Zach Propes issued a statement, thanking Garmon for her service to the county.
“During her time with Hall County, Beth has contributed to several initiatives, including the development of the Comprehensive Plan and Unified Development Code,” Propes said. “We are thankful for her service to the Hall County community, and we wish her well in her future endeavors.”
Hall County will begin searching for a new Planning and Zoning director in the coming weeks.
The resignation came a day after Hall County commissioners voted to hold a public hearing outlining evidence that several Hall County planning commissioners violated the Georgia Open Meetings Act multiple times in the past year.
An investigative report from a Buford law firm that was leaked to AccessWDUN detailed that Garmon was in attendance at meetings held on dates prior to public meetings by Planning Commission Chairman Chris Braswell that also included planning commissioners Stan Hunt and Frank Sosebee. In one such meeting, Garmon reportedly told the planning commissioners that three or more of them could not be present while discussing business items on the upcoming agenda, to which she told investigators she was “brushed off.”
Garmon had been planning and zoning director for Hall County since June 2024.
