The Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) recently charged a Gainesville man in connection with a child sexual abuse investigation that began late this summer.
HCSO Warrant Service Unit deputies arrested 37-year old Richard Earl Reid Tuesday morning, Nov. 18 at his workplace in the 1500 block of Browns Bridge Road (Ga. Rte. 369). Reid is charged with aggravated child molestation and child molestation. Investigators obtained the arrest warrants on Monday, the day before the arrest.
According to Hall County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Derreck Booth, their preliminary investigation revealed that Reid committed the offenses against the female victim on several occasions between 2020 and 2022. The crimes allegedly happened at Reid’s residence, and Reid knew the victim prior to the abuse.
The HCSO investigation began when a counselor reported the crimes to deputies on Aug. 15, 2025, after the victim disclosed the abuse.
The case remains under investigation by HCSO. Reid was being held without bond in the Hall County Jail at the time of publication.
