Three people are dead, including two teenagers, after a domestic dispute in Harris County led to an officer-involved shooting.
According to a press release from the Harris County Sheriff’s office, at approximately 6:50 p.m. on November 17, 2025, Harris County Deputies were dispatched to 103 Christophers Way in Midland, Georgia, in reference to an ongoing domestic issue. Harris County 911 was updating the responding deputies while they were en route to the scene and advised that the male occupant of the residence was threatening to kill the children. He also made threats towards law enforcement officers responding to the scene. This information came from the wife, Kelly Grigsby, who had fled to a neighbor’s house with her five-year-old child, according to authorities.
As Deputies were pulling up to the residence, the lights inside of the house were turned off. Seeing this, Deputies pulled their vehicles into a position making it easier to see the front door with their “take down lights”. A few seconds after this, Eric Grigsby was observed walking from around the driveway with objects in both hands. Deputies told E. Grigsby to stop and drop what he had in his hands due to the nature of the 911 call. E. Grigsby continued to walk toward the Deputies, at which time it was observed that he was in possession of two handguns. Deputies commanded E. Grigsby again, to stop and drop the weapons. E. Grigsby raised his hands and pointed the weapons at the Deputies. Deputies fired a round striking E. Grigsby. E. Grigsby then fired rounds from the weapons in his hands and deputies returned fire until E. Grigsby was on the ground and not moving.
The scene was secured and cleared for additional danger. During the clearing of 103 Christophers Way, two bodies were discovered. A 16-year-old male and a 14-year-old male, later identified, as the stepsons of E. Grigsby had been shot. The 16-year-old stepson was pronounced deceased at the scene; however, the 14-year-old stepson was not pronounced deceased until after Harris County EMS attempted lifesaving techniques.
Due to the fact the incident was an “Officer Involved Shooting”, GBI was requested to complete a follow-up investigation. “This was a tragic Family Violence Shooting resulting in the death of three individuals. Two teenage young men were shot and killed by their stepfather and the stepfather (E. Grigsby) was shot and killed by Deputies. The Deputies responded to the scene and did exactly as they were trained.” said Sheriff Mike Jolley
