A Flowery Branch woman was arrested Monday for allegedly financially exploiting an elderly relative.
A statement from the Flowery Branch Police Department said the investigation into Virginia Parker, age 47, began on Aug. 26 with a fraud report originating from a home on Newberry Point Drive off of G.C. Crow Road.
Investigators said Parker had been financially exploiting a 92-year-old relative.
“Mrs. Parker had allegedly committed several offenses, including writing false checks to herself using the victim’s identity, using the victim’s information to obtain a life insurance policy, and using funds from the victim to pay off personal credit cards,” the police department said.
Parker was arrested during a traffic stop on Monday, Nov. 17. She was booked into the Hall County Jail on charges including exploitation of the elderly, third-degree and fourth-degree forgery as well as theft by deception.
As of Tuesday afternoon, Parker remained jailed on over $47,000 bond.
