As the holiday season approaches, a community drive that has become a staple in Hall County will look to provide thousands of meals this Thanksgiving.
Martha Randolph — owner of M&M Down Home Catering in Gainesville — and Angela Middleton, who helps organize volunteers, spoke on WDUN’s “The Martha Zoller Show” Monday morning on their efforts this year.
“Last year, we fed … about 2,300 meals,” Randolph said. “This year we’re getting to a late start … but we got it all worked out, and they are definitely calling in, coming in, donating, putting things together.”
Middleton noted how important volunteers are to their operation.
“It’s a four day event that we volunteer over, starting on Monday and everyone has their assignments. Why? Because we are preparing home cooked meals,” Middleton said. “We do have people that have been coming in for years, and so they kind of got it down .. but we always have room for more, but the list is filling up.”
Middleton said to contact her at atmiddleton32@gmail.com to see how to volunteer.
On the day of Thanksgiving, Randolph said they will be ready to go.
“We have the guys that do all the cooking of the chicken all night long … we start up at four o’clock in the morning, and volunteers start coming in about seven,” Randolph said. “We have an assembly line where we set up everything.”
Randolph added that for more information, potential volunteers can call (678) 357-8248.
