Fire prevention and rescue crews spent much of Sunday afternoon battling, containing and dousing a brush fire just southwest of Dawsonville.
Dawson County’s social media pages reported that Dawson County Fire Department’s Brush Battalion 1 and Station 7 crews were called to put out the brush/woods fire. Georgia Forestry Commission quickly responded and arrived thereafter, deploying a plowed break around the fire.
Officials say the fire was successfully contained within the mid-afternoon hours Sunday, with no reports of any injuries. Nearly 12 acres of land were damaged from the fire, with the exact cause for what triggered the fire not reported, as of the time of this publication.
