Habersham Electric Membership Corporation (HEMC) is celebrating their eighth consecutive year with no lost time accidents.  From the linemen to member services and everyone in between, the over 100 employees at HEMC all play a unique role in maintaining a safe work environment.

“Our employees take great pride in their work – no matter their role – because they understand how much our members and communities rely on the services we provide,” said HEMC’s Manager of Safety and Loss Control Jason Rothell. “We’re incredibly proud of the entire HEMC team and their unwavering commitment to safety and excellence in everything they do.”

In addition to employee safety being the number one priority on the job site and in the office, HEMC says in a recent press release that a culture of safety goes beyond the goal of an injury-free workplace. The co-op nurtures an environment where concern for employee’s health, safety and welfare extends beyond the walls of the office and job sites into the community. HEMC officials and staff are committed to providing training, proper tools, personal protective gear, and time to do their jobs safely.

Rothell added that, “Our goal is that each and every employee make it safely home to their families –each and every night.  Reaching milestones such as this is reflective of the safety focus of HEMC’s Board of Directors, CEO, managers, and every employee.”

Habersham EMC, an electric cooperative based in Clarkesville, Georgia, serves more than 28,000 members with 3,800 miles of line in six counties of Northeast Georgia.
