Week 11 NFL Survivor pool strategy with safe, value, trap picks

Let’s cut to the chase. If you remain alive in your NFL Survivor pools coming out of Week 10, things are going very right for you. The Buffalo Bills and Carolina Panthers lost their respective matchups and decimated remaining Survivor pools. The Bills lost a thumping on the road to the woeful Dolphins, while the Panthers could not handle their business at home against the awful Saints. The Bills were one of my safe picks last week and they along with the Panthers were the most popular picks in a lot of pools.

We now head into Week 11 with four teams installed as a touchdown or more favorite. The Patriots are a 13-point favorite at home against the Jets, the Ravens are a 7.5-point road favorite against the Browns, and the Packers and Texans are touchdown favorites on the road against the Giants and Titans, respectively.

Last week in my Survivor advice column, I was off on the Bills, but correct on the Lions as a safe pick and the Broncos as a value pick. I was close on Colts over Falcons being a trap pick, while the Seahawks won with ease over the Cardinals.

On to my Week 11 picks!

Safest picks

Texans over Titans

Picking against the Titans has not served folks wrong yet, so I say continue with it.

Best value picks

Patriots over Jets

They’re going to be a popular pick, but in at least one of my pools, a lot of folks have already used them. There are plenty of folks that choose to skip TNF games because the short week is a red flag. We saw the Broncos narrowly win last week, and we get another divisional game in Week 11. I’m going to the well a second straight week with TNF, so we’ll see if it burns me.

Trap picks

Packers over Giants
Steelers over Bengals

The Packers are coming off a poor performance against the Packers, and now facing a bad Giants squad. It feels like a bounce-back game, but there are some big red flags. The Giants fired Brian Daboll and have Mike Kafka serving as interim head coach. They also benched Russell Wilson and replaced him with Jameis Winston while Jaxson Dart remains sidelined. I think it’s best to stay away from this game.

I think the Steelers probably win this, but I’m not feeling great about it. The Bengals are not a good team, but Joe Flacco has them playing some dangerous football. I’m pondering Pittsburgh with one of my entries in a pool I have multiple remaining, but I’m not feeling great about it.
