A Doraville man has been charged in the August death of an Oakwood woman after he allegedly sold her fentanyl that caused her to overdose.
The Oakwood Police Department said officers were called to a home on Township Drive on Aug. 10 in reference to a reported cardiac arrest. Upon arrival, officers entered the home and located the victim lying on the bathroom floor. The victim was holding a syringe in her hand. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
An autopsy was completed on the victim and the woman’s cause of death was determined as an “Overdose of Fentanyl,” according to OPD.
After a three month long extensive investigation and in coordination with the Hall County District Attorney’s Office, an OPD detective was able to obtain an arrest warrant for the charge of “Aggravated Involuntary Manslaughter” against Erik Kahn, 37, for selling the Fentanyl to the victim that subsequently caused her death.
He was arrested and booked into the Hall County Jail on Friday, Nov. 7, 2025. OPD did not release the name of the victim in the case.
“The Oakwood Police Department would like to thank the Georgia Bureau of Investigations, Chamblee Police Department, Sandy Springs Police Department, and the HIDTA Task Force (Dekalb County Police Department/ Dekalb County Sheriff’s Office) for their assistance during this investigation,” OPD said in a statement. “…The Oakwood Police Department will aggressively investigate overdose deaths in the City of Oakwood and will continue to work with all of our Law Enforcement Partners in this endeavor to hold drug dealers accountable for their actions.”
The case remains active and ongoing.
