CLARKESVILLE — The Clarkesville City Council will meet Monday evening to consider several transportation and public-safety agreements, recognize community partners, and hear reports from department heads.
The meeting begins at 6 p.m. at City Hall, following a 5 p.m. work session where members are scheduled to hear updates on the planned Georgia Department of Transportation roundabout at the intersection of State Routes 197 and 385, a Soque River Watershed Association project, and the Georgia Municipal Association’s lease program.
During the regular meeting, the council will vote on a contract and two resolutions related to the GDOT roundabout project. A letter from the state Department of Transportation shows Clarkesville will share costs for relocating water and sewer lines affected by construction. The total estimated utility adjustment cost is about $730,876, with GDOT covering 60 percent, or roughly $438,000, and the city responsible for 40 percent, or about $292,000, to be paid in two installments.
Members also will consider approval of Resolution 2025-6, updating the city’s emergency-management plan in coordination with the Georgia Emergency Management Agency, and Resolution 2025-7, authorizing the mayor to sign the GDOT contract agreement.
Mayor Barrie Aycock and the council will recognize Lowe’s for its volunteer work on the Greenway Trail and honor John Lunsford for his service on the city’s Housing Authority Board. The agenda also includes renewal of several alcohol licenses and routine committee reports from city departments.
The work session and meeting are open to the public and will be held at Clarkesville City Hall.
