The 4-4 Minnesota Vikings will host the 3-5 Baltimore Ravens this Sunday as 4.5-point home underdogs. Both teams need wins to keep in the thick of their divisional races, but there’s little doubt the Ravens hold an edge at the quarterback position in this matchup. That means the Vikings run game probably needs to step up this week for them to grab a win as underdogs. That brings us to veteran Aaron Jones, who is questionable this week with an AC joint sprain in his shoulder, along with a toe injury.
Aaron Jones injury updates
Jones didn’t practice on Wednesday, but then got in two limited practices on Thursday and Friday. That officially had him as questionable to play. Jones did sound somewhat optimistic that he would play, and then on Saturday it was reported that he would be able to suit up this week, per ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.
Fantasy football analysis
So, good news, Jones looks like he is a go for this matchup. There is of course some real concern about him playing a full set of snaps, as injuries have been a problem for him this year, and he of course needs his toe and shoulder while playing in the NFL. But, last week we saw that he still has the juice, as he rushed nine times for 78 yards and caught both his targets for 20 more. Those numbers came with an incomplete game, as he had to leave in the third quarter.
The Ravens have allowed the fifth-most fantasy points to running backs this season and if Jones can stay on the field, I expect him to be a useful start. The injury risk is real though, and could be a deciding factor if you are choosing between a similarly projected running back.
