If I had to bet on it, I’d expect Justin Fields to be the starting quarterback for the 1-7 New York Jets in Week 10as they face a tough Browns defense at home as 2.5-point underdogs this Sunday. The Jets had a fire sale on their two top defensive players, shipping cornerback Sauce Gardner and defensive tackle Quinnen Williams off in trades. But, they did keep two offensive players who were possible trade targets, RB Breece Hall and WR Garrett Wilson.
Hall is a go, while Wilson is questionable this week, as he has been dealing with a knee injury. We’ll take a look at his outlook below.
Garrett Wilson injury updates
Wilson hyperextended his knee three weeks ago, but has only missed two games due to the Jets’ Week 9 bye. He was able to get in limited practices on Wednesday and Thursday, and then was upgraded to a full practice on Friday. Despite the full practice, he was listed as questionable.
Wilson did say that he “feels great” and will play, per Rich Cimini, but there’s always a chance the team decides to hold him out again, as they have nothing to play for and they obviously want to keep Wilson for the long haul.
Fantasy football analysis
If for some reason Wilson doesn’t play, there really aren’t any receivers you can count on for a fantasy start behind him. Tyler Johnson did play well in Week 8, but with a tough matchup, I wouldn’t even feel good taking a flyer on him. Tight end Mason Taylor could see more targets though, which could boost him up.
If Wilson plays, which looks likely, we know he’s going to see the majority of the targets, making him startable in most leagues. With Fields likely starting, there isn’t a ton of upside there, but when you average over nine targets a game and are as good as Wilson is, you need to be in the starting lineup.
