The first below-freezing temperatures in parts of Northeast Georgia since February are expected to move in in the coming days.
The National Weather Service’s Peachtree City Office has issued a Freeze Watch for much of North Georgia from 1:00 to 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 10. The weather service said temperatures are expected to drop into the 20s for most parts of the state above the Interstate 85 corridor.
Counties in the region included in the Freeze Watch are Hall, Gwinnett, Forsyth, Dawson, Lumpkin, White, Towns and Union counties.
“Confidence is high that the first frost/freeze of the season will occur, with low temperatures in the mid-20’s to low-30’s,” the weather service said.
Those cold temperatures are expected to be present again in the early morning hours of Tuesday, November 11. The weather service also noted that those anticipated lows could even be 5 to 10 degrees below projections at higher elevations in the North Georgia mountains.
Residents impacted by the cold temperatures are asked to check on family, friends or neighbors to make sure they’re prepared, bring outdoor pets inside, cover or protect any exposed water pipes and bring any outdoor plants indoors.
