On Nov. 9, Mercury will station retrograde in Sagittarius, setting the stage for a three-week-long rewind that asks us to revisit and re-evaluate everything from our belief systems to the stories we tell ourselves.

Sagittarius is the truth-seeker of the zodiac, and its archetype is symbolic of wisdom, expansion and venturing outside of one’s comfort zone. 

When Mercury — the planet of communication, thought processes and immediate surroundings — backtracks through this Fire sign, it’s equivalent to pressing the pause button, particularly around the ideas and plans we’ve been pursuing.

In Sagittarius, however, the messenger planet is considered a “straight shooter,” as it is equally outspoken and eager to connect the dots in its endless pursuit of meaning. Conversations are larger than life under this influence, with a lot less focus on the “what” and more on the “why.”

Still, when Mercury stations retrograde, Sagittarius’ arrow doesn’t quite hit the mark, in that you could start to second-guess what once felt certain.
