A Gainesville man remains in the Hall County Jail without bond after he allegedly threatened relatives with a firearm Friday night.

The Hall County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to a residence on Rose Petal Street  at around 9:10 p.m.

At the scene, authorities determined the suspect, identified as Porfirio Galvez, 62, had become involved in a verbal argument with a male family member.

During the course of the argument,  Galvez reportedly  pulled a firearm, threatened to kill everyone in the house and then discharged the weapon into the air. Deputies recovered a bullet casing on the ground in the area where Galvez had fired the weapon. No one was injured.

Galvez fled the scene in a silver Honda Accord prior to the arrival of deputies, HCSO said.

Deputies obtained arrest warrants for two counts of felony aggravated assault as well as three counts of third degree child cruelty.

Galvez was taken into custody on Sunday  after his vehicle license plate showed up on a traffic camera in the area of Athens Street and the I-985 bridge.
